Where voices rise into story.

Where voices rise into story.

Where voices rise into story.

Where voices rise into story.

Welcome to The New Dawn

  Some stories begin in comfort.
Others begin in survival.

The New Dawn is an animated storytelling world where real experiences become story. Through music, dub poetry, humor, and hard truths, these stories follow people navigating systems that were never built with them in mind.

At the center is Kingston — a Jamaican Rastafarian musician discovering what it means to survive his first winter in Toronto.

An animated series where survival isn't inspirational. It's work.

Out of Many: Survival Stories

Start the journey with Episode One.

Kingston has been hiding. Winter trapped him inside his room, and he's been avoiding Toronto ever since he arrived. But Riot refuses to let him disappear. She drags him out to a café on Queen Street, where he notices a flyer for live music nights—and for the first time since leaving Jamaica, he sees a crack of possibility. Maybe this cold place has space for his vibe after all.

Animated Series

Kingston performs his first dub poem in Toronto—a piece about Maroons torn from Jamaica and sent to frozen, unfamiliar lands. But Prophet interrupts, shouting about signals and destinies. Later, Riot teaches Kingston why the word "mad" isn't as neutral as he thought. Meanwhile, a hurricane barrels toward Jamaica, and Kingston can't reach his sister. The signals are everywhere. He just doesn't know how to read them yet.

Hurricane Melissa devastates Jamaica. A snowstorm hits Toronto. Food runs out in both places. Kingston is caught between guilt (he should be in Jamaica helping his family) and fear (he can barely survive the cold here). Riot pushes him to stop hiding—to get on the streetcar, to stop hoarding rice like a bear preparing to hibernate. Everyone around him is stretching what little they have and moving forward anyway. The lesson isn't about winning. It's about accepting what you can't change, making sacrifices, and leaning on the people who show up.

Greetings!

Hi, I'm Dawn, founder of The New Dawn.

My experiences with domestic violence, poverty, and systemic barriers shaped the path that brought me here. Those struggles didn't silence me. They sharpened my voice.

Today, that voice lives through storytelling.

Through animation, poetry, and humor, The New Dawn turns lived experience into narrative—stories about the moments when the systems around you stop making sense, and what people do anyway.

Because sometimes the most powerful stories aren't about winning. They're about continuing.

Our Stance!

The New Dawn tells stories rooted in lived experience — not as inspiration, but as knowledge.

The barriers people face are rarely about personal failure. They are built into the systems themselves. Through storytelling, we explore what gets sacrificed, who shows up, and what it costs to keep moving when everything says stop.

These aren't motivational stories.

They're honest ones.

Leadership doesn't come from speeches. It emerges from the choices people make when resources run out and the pressure doesn't let up.

Our Vision!

We believe stories can open doors.

Through animation, poetry, and storytelling, The New Dawn creates space for voices that are often overlooked. Our goal is to spark reflection, encourage conversation, and imagine new possibilities.

This project is about perspective — seeing the world through different eyes and recognizing the humanity that exists inside ordinary survival.

This is only the beginning.

Our Action!

Through animated episodes, dub poetry, and character-driven storytelling, we bring displacement, identity, culture shock, and belonging to the screen — not as talking points, but as lived moments.

When people see their experiences reflected honestly, something shifts. Conversations open. Assumptions soften.

That's where change begins.

We invite you to watch, reflect, and see the world a little differently.

Our Promise!

The New Dawn promises stories that stay honest.

Stories that challenge assumptions, reveal hidden struggles, and remind us that even under pressure, creativity and perspective can open unexpected paths forward.

Through storytelling, we aim to build connection, reflection, and a deeper understanding of the world we share.

Our Brand Colours

Our colours reflect the spirit of The New Dawn.

🔵 Blue — Trust. Built through honesty, accountability, and showing up.

🟢 Green — Growth. The belief that change is always possible.

🔴 Red — Passion. The courage to speak, create, and stand for something.

🟡 Yellow — Hope. The quiet reminder that every dawn brings another chance.

Together, these colours represent the journey—not the destination.
